T95Q Android TV Box Review

The most recent T95Q Android TV Box features a circular design with expandable USB ports and Android 9.0 out of the box.

The fact that this box ships with stock Android 9.0 and not Android TV is crucial to keep in mind; there is a significant difference.

Read about the distinctions between Android TV and stock Android in the Android TV Box Resource Guide.

This Android TV Box appears to be sold by several different “vendors,” and the one I bought was from YAGALA.

There are two models available as of this review, and each has a different set of storage options. The device I’m reviewing has 32GB of internal storage and runs Android 9.0. The other available models have Android 8.1.

What is Likable

If you’ve read any of my past reviews for generic Android TV Boxes, you know that I don’t like the launchers that come with them by default. I do, on the whole, like this one.

Your preferred applications can be quickly added to the bottom of the home screen. By including your preferred apps in the Video and Music categories, you can tailor them to your tastes.

My preferred launcher, ATV Launcher Pro, was installed successfully and performed admirably with the T95Q. On some boxes, the launcher doesn’t stay in the default position, but not on this one.

When I tried streaming a 4K video through YouTube, it worked without a hitch. When using the “Stats for Nerds” tool, we typically notice some skipped frames, but not in this case.

What is not Likable

The included remote control is subpar, just like those found on the majority of generic Android TV boxes. Since this is an infrared controller, it cannot operate unless it is pointed at the box.

This allowed me to plug in my preferred air-mouse keyboard combination, which was excellent with the T95Q. Yes, this is an additional thirteen dollars, but in my opinion, it is well worth it.

This lacks HD support for Netflix or Amazon Prime, just like other Android TV Boxes that run stock Android. I advise against buying the T95Q if you make use of either of these services.

The Android OS is only 32 bits, even though the processor is 64 bits. As a result, programs like Dolphin Emulator won’t function properly on the T95Q Android TV Box.

Since the majority of apps still come in 32-bit format, this shouldn’t be a deal breaker. The second-generation Fire TV Cube shares this flaw as well.

T95Q Android TV Box Download Speed Tests

Since we stream large HD files through these devices, download speed is one of the most crucial features to test.

We ran the following tests using our hi-tech devices and it

Ethernet:

VPN On: NA The bug that prevents Android 9 from properly supporting Ethernet-connected devices is currently being fixed by IPVanish.

VPN Off: 14.39 Mbps upload and 78.82 Mbps download

WiFi:

VPN on: 30.43 Mbps upload and 69.13 Mbps download

VPN off: 20.29 Mbps upload and 107.19 Mbps download.

Always use a VPN whenever you come online.
