How to Speed Up a Slow FireStick
Follow the instructions below to speed up your FireStick.
Restart/Reboot Your FireStick
The most usual approach to troubleshooting a Fire TV is restart or reboot your FireStick.
Background-running apps might slow down your FireStick and cause additional performance problems like lagging and crashes.
Many of those problems might be solved by restarting the device.
To Restart/Reboot your FireStick,
1. The menu options are in the center of FireStick’s home window.
2. Click Settings on the far right.
2. Go ahead and click My Fire TV after finding it there.
3. Next, slightly scroll down and select Restart.
4. If asked, click Restart once again.
5. The restart process for your FireStick will now begin. Additionally, the screen will show the “Powering Off” message.
Even when your gadget has returned to normal, you should still reboot it sometimes to make sure it continues to function properly.
Remove Unnecessary Apps
The simplest and most effective way to speed up your FireStick device is to delete unnecessary apps.
Why should you do this? Well, these apps take up some unnecessary space in your device’s ROM storage. The system will automatically download and install updates if the apps receive them frequently.
Also, these applications continue to function in the background, using RAM. All of these can cause your smartphone to lag.
So to Delete/Uninstall unnecessary apps,
1. Click the settings gear icon on your screen’s right side.
2. Click Applications.
3. Navigate to Manage Installed Applications. Open it.
4. All of the apps that are currently installed on your Fire TV device will be shown.
5. Pick the application you want to remove. We’ll use the AOS TV app as an example to show the concept.
6. A number of alternatives will appear when you choose the app to delete. If the app is still running in the background, choose “Force stop” to close it first.
7. Next, select Clear Cache by scrolling down.
8. Next, click Clear Data.
9. To confirm clearing the app’s data, click Clear data once more.
10. Finally, click Uninstall.
11. Again, click Uninstall to confirm that the app has now been deleted from your device.
Clear Cache of Apps
After deleting the unnecessary apps, you will be left with only the apps that you will be using frequently.
It’s possible that over time, the cache for these apps accumulated significantly and affected the device’s speed.
We advise you to clear the cache of the apps you are now using.
7. Next, select Clear Cache by scrolling down.
That’s it.
Keep FireStick Updated
1. On your screen, click the settings gear in the upper right corner.
2. Scroll down and select “My Fire TV.”
3. Then, click on “About.”
4. Next, scroll down and click either “Install Update” or “Check for Updates.”
As my device is already updated, you’ll notice that I don’t have the Install Update button in the screenshot above.
If Check for Updates shows up, click it to see if there are any updates that can be downloaded.
The Install Update button will be shown if your FireStick has already downloaded the update and it is accessible.
The updates will begin installing as soon as you select “Install Update.” Don’t forget to keep the power on when installing updates.
The update will be finished, and FireStick will reboot automatically in a short while.

Turn off Auto-Updates for Apps
Apps that are both official and third-party, receive regular updates. Devices today offer the ability to update apps automatically to make your life easier.
Despite how handy it is, there may be times when you wish to disable the option, such as when your FireStick starts to lag.
By following the guide below, you can disable automatic app updates.
1. From your home screen, find and select Settings on the right.
2. Select Applications.
3. Select Appstore.
5. Click “Automatic Updates” to turn it off.
Turn Off Collect App Usage Data
Although it might not appear like it has anything to do with speeding up your FireStick, everything it does uses up system resources.
As a result, turning off functions that are not reasonable for you can enhance the performance of your FireStick.
1. Select Settings from the home screen.
2. Select Preferences.
3. Click Privacy Settings.
4. Click on the “Collect app usage data” setting to turn it off if it’s on.
5. Click “Turn Off.”
6. Confirm that the setting is now off.
Lastly Factory Reset
If you’ve tried all the guides above and your FireStick is still lagging, you may need to do a factory reset.
The last option is to do this. Performance should be improved after a factory reset.
The device will be restored to its original state after doing this, though. This will delete all your data.
If you want to use your Wi-Fi password and Amazon login after the reset, make sure you are familiar with them.
1. On your screen, click the settings gear in the upper right corner.

2. Scroll down and select “My Fire TV.”
3. Scroll down to the bottom of My Fire TV and select Reset to Factory Defaults.
4. Finally, click Reset.
That’s all.
